Privacy & cookies

Jacob Laurvigen is the controller for this website. For privacy questions, contact laurvigen@me.com.

Your choice

Google Analytics is optional. It stays off until you select Accept analytics. Rejecting it does not limit access to this website. You can use Cookie settings at any time to change your choice or withdraw consent. Withdrawing stops further analytics collection, removes this site's Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page. It does not undo data already sent.

What analytics measures

With your consent, Google Analytics 4 helps Jacob understand which pages are read and which links are useful. This site sends the published page address and title, article reading milestones (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%), clicks on contact options, and the domain of an external link clicked. Page addresses exclude query strings and fragments; external links exclude paths and queries. Contact clicks identify only the channel, such as email or LinkedIn.

The Google tag also uses random cookie identifiers and basic browser, session and engagement information. Google receives network requests, including your IP address when those requests reach its servers. This site does not send names, email addresses, message contents, form values, user IDs or complete referring URLs to analytics.

Google Signals, advertising personalization, user-provided data collection, granular location/device collection, optional account data sharing and enhanced measurement are disabled. There is no automatic form or site-search capture, advertising tag or session replay.

Cookies and local storage

• Consent choice: this browser stores only your accepted/rejected choice, a version and an expiry under laurvigen.analytics-consent.v1 in local storage for up to 180 days. It is used to remember your preference, including rejection. If browser storage is unavailable, you may be asked again on another page.
• Optional analytics: after acceptance, Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_SFLWED9ZFL cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. This site limits these cookies to 60 days. Cookies may be renewed while analytics is on. Rejecting or withdrawing removes them.

Processing and retention

Analytics data is processed by Google and may be processed in countries outside your own. The property's user-level and event-level data retention is set to two months, with retention reset on new activity disabled. Aggregate reports may be retained differently. Cookie expiry, Google data retention and your saved consent choice are separate settings. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy.

Hosting and direct contact

The site's hosting services process technical requests to deliver and protect the website. This is separate from optional Google Analytics. If you email Jacob directly, your email address and the information you choose to send are used to respond to your enquiry. Please avoid sending sensitive personal or financial information. There is currently no live contact form on this website.
